This is a wonderful activity designed by Barbara Fredrickson (an expert on positive emotions) which can boost your mood as you do it and also when you come back to it in the future.
Fredrickson also suggests that you can create different types of 'positivity portfolios' to create different moods, e.g. to inspire confidence, pride, amusement, joy etc

Positive Story Writing

As desired

This is a wonderful activity to encourage savouring (the use of thoughts and actions to increase the intensity, duration, and appreciation of positive experiences and emotions). It can be done at anytime and stories should be kept and re-read often to elicit positive feelings.

Nightly before bed

By focusing on the good things in life, the 'Three Good Things' Activity generates positive emotions to promote wellbeing and has been proven to increase optimism.

Counting Blessings

Once a week

Studies have shown that, when people count their blessings once a week, there is an increase in wellbeing. These people also experienced more joy, energy, attentiveness and pro-social behaviour.

Whenever they are feeling down

This activity is a variation to the 'Gratitude Journal'. It states that it is possible to improve moods by conciously noticing the funny things that happen in life.
